P-REP Proposal; ICON, 20% exposure in top crypto event of 2020, reach 100+ universities/corporate partners (BETTER THAN SLICED BREAD), organized by MouseBelt.

Summary:
Event site: https://www.ri2020.io/
Event date: May 18th, 2020
P-PREP Commitment Date: April 30th, 2020
Telegram: u/markusreisner
We believe we have a strong proposition to market ICON in a meaningful way to some of the largest communities in crypto.
The MouseBelt team has the largest global network of over 100+ universities in 20+ countries. Over the last few months, 10+ university blockchain events we were working with got canceled for obvious reasons.
Due to that fact, and our understanding of our reach we decided to launch a virtual conference. Since April 10th here is what happened:
MouseBelt will invest over $70k+ into this event. We would like to have fellow P-Reps invest $20k (this will go 100% to BlockTV production cost).
The benefit to the ICON community will be:
Background:
MouseBelt is a popular blockchain ecosystem consisting of multiple parts:
MouseBelt as ICON developers:
Our engineering team has implemented token assets on ZenSports (SPORTS), the first STO on the ICON network, and GrowYourBase, the #1 IRC2 application token in market capitalization on the ICON network.
Currently, we are developing the Balanced network in concert with ICX_Station, PARROT9, and Iconosphere. Balanced will bring synthetic assets backed by ICX to the ICON network, as well as tokenized staked ICX. This can assist with both a stable asset for payments, and a base for other DeFi applications
MouseBelt as a P-Rep:
We have been a Main P-Rep most of the time since decentralization of the network and so far had utilized our funds for student education.
Such as the “ICON in a box” workshops and the Milwaukee Blockchain Conference, which we sponsored in a direct ICX payment and the second annual payment for UCLA’s blockchain engineering course.
REIMAGINE2020, Conference details:
Conferences have always been an integral part of the blockchain space to promote projects in the industry.
With recent evolutions around the globe, things have changed. They either got canceled or delayed.
We have created REIMAGINE2020, a virtual conference.
Shared by the ICON Foundation on April 18.
We can effectively and efficiently promote ICON to the world through Reiamgine2020 | BlockTV. The driving force behind the conference is: highest quality of Content matched with the best production quality for Video. The funds will allow MouseBelt to promote ICON logo/branding throughout the conference/programming for straight 72 hr of live streaming. Additionally, we have the opportunity to properly place ICON logo/branding in highly favorable on-screen placements (tickers/commercials/plugs and continuous branding) reaching 5M viewers globally. ICX Station is providing a Keynote to drive global interest.
Confirmed partners
Schedule & Format
Production Status
Audience
In addition to the communities of our confirmed partners and universities we are targeting:
1. Viewers - Tuning into the livestream, attending a workshop, or watching the content post-conference.
2. Participants - Speakers, partners, and sponsors
3. As far as hard data for "attendees" we have two signals:

Jaxx & Decentral - Introduction, and how we are working to improve the Monero ecosystem and infrastructure.

Hey there Monero peeps. I wanted to take the time to introduce Decentral, Jaxx (and myself) to the Monero community.
As some of you may know, last week Jaxx became closer involved with your community as we both announced Monero is iOS approved as well as our future plans for XMR wallet support across all 9 platforms that Jaxx supports. iOS mobile & iPad, Android mobile & tablet, Chrome & Firefox extensions and Mac / PC / Linux desktop.
Jaxx has been in the works for over a year and a half now and officially launched this past June. In a nutshell, the vision for Jaxx is to create a default blockchain interface that's made for the masses (including those non-technical folk like my Dad) that allows everyone to manage and be in full control or their digital assets, and done in a way that brings together and provides support for the global decentralized tech / blockchain communities we admire for providing choice and value to the world.
To achieve our vision we're shooting to:
Decentral is the parent company of Jaxx and is also a decentralized tech hub located in downtown Toronto. We are currently a team of around 20 full-time and contract staff. Decentral opened on New Year's day 2014 to provide a space where enthusiasts of decentralized tech could meet, work, and create cool shit. Since opening we believe Decentral has made some huge strides. We're proud to be the birthplace of The Decentral Project, Ethereum, Kryptokit, Rushwallet, Ethereumwallet.com, Jaxx, Decentral.tv, Decentral Consulting, Cointalk, C4, the world's 2nd Bitcoin ATM & Toronto's first (which is still running strong btw). We're also the first home to the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada, Toronto Ethereum Meetup, Toronto Bitcoin Meetup, & Toronto Techno Crypto. As well, our client list includes Toronto Stock Exchange, RBC Bank, Deloitte and many other small and large enterprise clients and start-ups.
To date Decentral has hosted over 115 events including The Canadian Bitcoin Expo 2014 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre & associated Hackathon where Amir Taaki's Dark Market (Open Bazaar) emerged. Along the way we have educated many thousands on the positive and potential benefits blockchain and decentralized technologies provide. We are approachable, visible, and community and business oriented. All traits we recognize to be very important the space we are in, and especially important in the blockchain wallet space, as let's face it, even though we don't "hold" customer funds, we are still responsible for the software they rely on to manage said funds, and in the future, we're hoping their entire digital lives.
Decentral has learned a lot developing wallets over the past 3 years. in 2013 we first emerged as Kryptokit, launching the first ever chrome extension bitcoin wallet. About a month later just as Kryptokit was taking flight, Vitalik Buterin showed be the whitepaper for Ethereum, I dropped everything and spent the next 12 months founding that project, while doing minimal work in the wallet space except for pushing out Rushwallet.com, our html5 bitcoin wallet that works across many different platforms and devices.
So, how will Jaxx be helping to build our the Monero ecosystem? Aside from XMR wallet support we are also building our also creating the full infrastructure and redundancy systems for tokens we carry. The ultimate plan in the future is for individual users to run and tap into their own nodes should they wish to do so. The more control can be pushed off to the individual / user, and the less you have to rely on us the better, we say.
This new Monero infrastructure we're developing, the first part of it which should be deployed when we launch is designed to source data from our multiple nodes as well as any others available. (in a round-robin fashion) and select the best most accurate info to display and use for sending transactions. We're also determining how this infrastructure can be used to assist the entire Monero ecosystem as the complete structure containing nodes, apis, and relay system is unique and unlike anything available right now for Monero. We developed this massive infrastructure project which is and will be available for all our supported tokens because we realized what was currently available (a miss-match of token specific services) wasn't allowing us to add new token support efficiently and synchronously.
Now a bit about myself. I am the CEO and founder of Decentral & Jaxx, co-founder of Ethereum and have lived in Toronto all my life. I've been an entrepreneur and design junkie for 20 years. Prior to full-time blockchain (2012) I owned a geothermal drilling company doing commercial projects for Ikea. I've been in tech all my life building computers since age 8 (1984), on BBSes since the 1200 baud modem days (late 80's), designing website in the early 90's. I invested in Bitcoin (2012), Litecoin (2013) and Ethereum (2013). I currently hold all three as well as Monero and Dash and ETC and am looking to expand my portfolio with some of the new groundbreaking technologies Decentral has been identifying. All projects I've done in this space are self-funded (aside from Ethereum of course, although I did bootstrap a large portion of the project before the crowdsale). I own 100% own my current projects and believe efficiencies and leadership are paramount to providing great products and services for the public.
Earlier this year I became (part-time) Chief Digital Officer at the Toronto Stock Exchange, (a position I've just resigned from) in order to focus full efforts on Jaxx and the soon to be announced new project. This role at TSX and work with others industry clients has really given myself and Decentral an inside on how the current systems operates. From these engagements we've realized we have an amazing team at Decentral that's able to map out current processes and industries (whether it be municipal services, health care systems, banking infrastructure, etc.) and provide roadmaps for how these systems can be modernized using technologies such as bitcoin and other disruptive (and usually) decentralized tech.
My personal goal it to provide products and choices that enables individuals to take control of their lives. I'm a voluntarist, meaning I believe all interactions between individuals and groups should be voluntary and uncoerced, and believe diplomacy and short-term sacrifices can lead to much greater longer term gains and execution of grand plans. I'm also a huge proponent of privacy and security.
Regarding Jaxx, Jaxx.io is our official site. There you'll find it a great resources ie FAQ and knowledge base and it's also the best way to get support for any of our products. Regarding support, Annie Lee leads that department and will be sure to help you with any tickets submitted once we launch our XMR integration. If you'd like to discuss potential business opportunities or integrations feel free to drop Rico Nassir a line at [email protected].
Please always make sure you downloading our products from trusted official app stores or from our SSL locked site Jaxx. We control the distribution of Jaxx tightly as to do our best to ensure there aren't malicious versions floating around the web or on app stores (more about this in a future post)
That's it for now as this has taken up half a Saturday to put together. One last thing I want to mention is how great it is to work with the Decentral and Jaxx team every day in our office in Toronto. We've got some rockstars in the house and nothing beats direct interaction on a daily basis with the team and this is why we are as efficient as we are, and why I believe as we grow we will continue to maintain our efficiencies and continue to push out great products and services.
Looking forward to working much closer with the Monero community. We've penciled in XMR release for early November. Keep in mind though, "penciled".
Cheers!

Jaxx & Decentral - Introduction and How we're Helping to build out the Litecoin Ecosystem.

Hey there Litecoin peeps. I wanted to take the time to introduce Decentral, Jaxx (and myself) to the Litecoin community.
As some of you may know, last week Jaxx became closer involved with your community as we launched Litecoin wallet integration across all 9 platforms that Jaxx supports. iOS mobile & iPad, Android mobile & tablet, Chrome & Firefox extensions and Mac / PC / Linux desktop.
We've gotten off to a bit of a rocky start with this integration... but more on that later.
All traits we recognize to be very important the space we are in, and especially important in the blockchain wallet space, as let's face it, even though we don't "hold" customer funds, we are still responsible for the software they rely on to manage said funds, and in the future, we're hoping their entire digital lives.

Now back to Litecoin. I must apologize for the rocky start Jaxx has had with our Litecoin integration. We had decided to launch Litecoin on the backbone of blockr.io, a 3rd party service we use to display balances and push transactions. Blockr.io had been rock solid for us and we were hoping to use it in the interim leading up to the iminent deployment our own new Litecoin infrastructure.
Unfortunately, a couple days ago blockr.io went down, and after popping back up briefly, went back down and remains down. Right now, What this means is that our LTC users have been unable to use Jaxx to see the most updated wallet balances, as well as not being able to send funds. Please know your funds are safe and we're working to rectify the problem. We're very sorry for the inconvenience this is causing and take full responsibility for this even though it's a 3rd party service we have no control over the issue that's causing the outage.
Here's what we're doing to be better and work towards this never happening again. We hate being down, and this is a terrible way for us to start the relationship between Jaxx and the Litecoin community. This is the very reason we are not just carrying tokens such as Litecoin, but also creating the full infrastructure and redundancy systems for tokens we carry to ensure this doesn't happen in the future. For now we and our users rely on blockr, but very soon we'll be deploying our own multiple nodes, api, and relay system to add more robustness to Jaxx. The ultimate plan in the future is for individual users to run and tap into their own nodes should they wish to do so. The more control can be pushed off to the individual / user, and the less you have to rely on us the better, we say.
This new structure, the first part of it which should be deployed over the next 2 days is designed to source data from multiple nodes (in a round-robin fashion) and select the best most accurate info to display and use for sending transactions. What this means is although we will still use blockr.io for Litecoin, no longer will we be down should they have problems as we'll also have our own multiple Litecoin nodes in the system to rely on and back us up. We're also determining how this infrastructure can be used to assist the entire Litecoin ecosystem as the complete structure containing nodes, apis, and relay system is unique and unlike anything available right now for Litecoin. We developed this massive infrastructure project which is and will be available for all our supported tokens because we realized what was currently available (a miss-match of token specific services) wasn't allowing us to add new token support efficiently and synchronously.

Huawei To Advance Commercial Application Of Blockchain, Says Director Of Huawei Blockchain ProjectRecently, blockchain has been a quite hot word in China after President XI Jinping claimed the emerging technology is vital to the future of the country. ZHANG Xiaojun, the director of the Huawei blockchain project, shared his opinions on the current development of blockchain in a recent interview. When talking about the obstacles faced by the blockchain in terms of the wide application, ZHANG pointed out four points. Firstly, users hope to increase revenue through blockchain, while the technology itself is to reduce operating cost; secondly, the security of blockchain technology is still insufficient, which may lead to new security risks in the application; thirdly, the shortage of cross-chain standards brings difficulties in the large commercial application of blockchain; lastly, blockchain is becoming an isolated island, which makes POC possible but blocks it to be commercialized. What Huawei faces is the first obstacle, according to ZHANG. He said the company intends to provide customers with a clear value demonstration for blockchain, which will help sweep aside customers’ concerns and enlarge their commercial application layout.Besides, regarding opportunities brought by 5G to blockchain, he stated that the blockchain technology would not only be deployed in the core cloud but also the edge cloud. And 5G can meet demands of large bandwidth and low latency for the edge cloud blockchain in the case of large commercial use.
China Launches A Blockchain-Based Identification System For Smart CitiesChina has launched a blockchain-based identification system for smart cities, aimed at better connectivity and data sharing between these cities. The system has been developed by three institutes in the city of Shijiazhuang and will assign a unique, global digital ID to nationwide smart cities, Global Times reported on Nov. 4, citing state-run Xinhua News Agency.ZHANG Chao, director of the Zhongguancun Industry & Information Research Institute of Two-dimensional Code Technology, one of the developers of the blockchain-based ID system, said that the system was self-developed by China and will be “independently distributed and managed by China, with a unified distribution rule, a resolution of distributed storage and tamper-resistant code.”

DAppTotal: Airdrop Of EIDOS Is A Disaster, Top Player May Profit Over Tens Of Thousands Of Dollars Citing data by DAppTotal, ever since EIDOS launched the airdrop event, the number of its 24h active users has reached 1,260, that of its 24h transactions has surpassed 1.89 million, and its 24h trading volume has registered 1,770 EOS. Such popularity has never been seen in any other EOS DApps, according to DAppTotal. Blockchain security firm PeckShield revealed that the airdrop event of EIDOS led to the price surge of CPU, which means normal EOS transactions between users could fail and most of the users are not able to play with gaming DApps under a congested EOS network. As reported by CoinNess.com earlier, the current CPU price for 1 EOS is 0.0001 EOS. Two days ago, however, one could use 1 EOS to rent 3,600 EOS for 30 days. This indicates an increase of more than 16 times because of the EIDOS hype. DAppTotal researchers found that as of now, players have made 35.83 million transactions, containing 3.39 million EIDOS tokens, to the account ‘eidosonecoin,’ 95% of which had only 0.0001 EOS sent. If a user sold all of the EIDOS tokens at peak prices, his or her earnings could be more than tens of thousands of dollars. It is really harmful to the EOS ecosystem, said the researchers.
At Least 23k Emails Leaked By BitMEX, Claims Research Director At The Block Larry Cermak, Director of Research at The Block, tweeted, “I now have access to 23,000 emails that were leaked by BitMEX. Surprisingly, there is only one person that used a .gov email. There were 66 students/alumni that used .edu email. NYU dominates (7 people), followed by Berkley, and University of Michigan.” BitMEX has previously made a response to the leaked email address in its blog post, saying that in this instance, beyond email addresses, no other personal data or account information has been disclosed and no further emails have been sent. “The error which has caused this has been identified and fixed, ensuring our usual high standards of privacy are upheld,” the company claimed.

BTC — BTC has continued to maintain range volatility since yesterday and is still hovering around $9200. In the past 24 hours, the net outflow of BTC capital has exceeded US $30 million, and the outflow of market capital has decreased significantly compared with the previous period. Yesterday, BTC fluctuated a lot. In the afternoon, it pretended to fall below the $9000 level and quickly rebounded to the highest around $9467. Then it rebounded slightly after stepping back on the $9000 support twice in the morning. At present, the short-term market is still in the stage of interval fluctuation, and frequent operation here may be more difficult. It is recommended to take the medium and long-term line as the investment target. The upper resistance level is close to $9600, while the lower resistance level is close to $9000. In terms of operation, it is suggested to control the position for the time being. The risk of further write back cannot be excluded here.

Before it entered the crypto space, Karatbars sold gold products online through an affiliate marketing system that regulators in three countries warned the public to avoid. CoinDesk interviewed three of Karatbars’ current “affiliates,” who said they passionately believe in the company and its tokens.

In the past two sessions, there were bearish moves in bitcoin below $8,300 against the US Dollar. The BTC/USD pair followed a bearish path and broke the $8,200 support area. Moreover, there was a close below the $8,200 level and the 100 hourly simple moving average. The last swing high was formed near $8,300 before the price broke $8,200 support.
Additionally, there was a break below the 50% Fib retracement level of the upward move from the $7,659 low to $8,539 high. The recent decline was such that the price tested the $8,000 support area. More importantly, the price tested the 61.8% Fib retracement level of the upward move from the $7,659 low to $8,539 high. At the moment, the price is struggling to hold the $8,000 support area.
It seems like there is a key declining channel forming with resistance near the $8,260 level on the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair. Thus, if there is a downside break below the $8,000 support, the price could accelerate its decline towards the $7,800 support area. Besides, an intermediate support is near $7,850 or the 76.4% Fib retracement level of the upward move from the $7,659 low to $8,539 high.

Vitalik Buterin: Phase Zero Of Ethereum 2.0 Was Generally Finalized Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin discussed developments across the wider Ethereum ecosystem in a Q&A at the Ethereal conference. Talking with Ejaaz Ahamadeen, lead token architect at Digital Assets, a part of the Brooklyn incubator ConsenSys, Buterin discussed the big gains made by privacy tools in recent weeks, the potential of decentralized finance (DeFi) and the roadmap of Ethereum 2.0. Focusing on phase zero, Ethereum 2.0’s first stage of development, he said everything was “finalized except for things that come up during the security audits. The clients are now talking to each other. The next step is to make sure they can maintain a public network at scale.” The process he was referring to, dubbed Eth2Beaucoup, involves seven Ethereum 2.0 clients (versions of the upcoming blockchain platform upgrade) linking up and running in sync with each other. It’s regarded as a significant milestone in this phase of Ethereum’s development.
Bitcoin ban may lead to massive brain drain in India The Indian government is considering criminalizing domestic cryptocurrency investments, and India is seeing signs of brain drain. The extreme stances reflected in Indian regulatory documents, whether or not they become national laws, have prompted local encryption companies to take preemptive measures to protect themselves. Many cryptocurrency companies have moved their companies out of India and chose to operate in a more open country. It is reported that Sidharth Sogani, CEO of blockchain research firm Crebaco Global Inc., predicts that if India finally bans the use of cryptocurrencies, India will lose about $12.9 billion.
Switzerland To Start Operating Next Month Two Licensed Banks For Cryptocurrency The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) gave Seba and Sygnum the first licenses in provisional banking and securities licenses to officially let them offer regulated services like deposits, investing, lending and withdrawal using cryptocurrency to serve asset managers, regular banks, startups, and other financial institutions. Recently, bitcoin struggled to gain momentum above the $10,400 resistance area against the US Dollar. The last swing high was formed near $10,437 before the price started a downside correction. On the other hand, there was a solid upward move in Ethereum above the $185 and $186 resistance levels. At the outset, BTC price is trading well below the $10,400 resistance level.
The last swing low was near $10,270 and recently the price corrected higher. It broke the $10,320 and $10,350 levels, plus remained well above the 100 hourly simple moving average. Moreover, there was a break above the 50% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $10,437 high to $10,270 low. However, the upward move was capped by the $10,375 level.
It seems like the 61.8% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $10,437 high to $10,270 low is acting as a hurdles. More importantly, there is a breakout pattern forming with resistance near $10,400 on the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair. If bitcoin breaks the trend line support near $10,300 and the 100 hourly SMA, there could be a downside extension. An immediate support is near the $10,250 level, below which the price could head towards $10,000.

Decred Journal — April 2018

This post covers what happened in Decred last month. Let's get down to business and have About section at the end.

Development

Wallet and node software version 1.2.0 has been released. Decrediton wallet highlights: improved startup experience, redesigned overview page, added basic graphs to visualize statistics and an export to CSV (helpful for tax reporting). dcrd node software highlights: significantly faster startup and compact filters to support light clients. See full release notes and downloads here, for Decrediton use 1.2.1 bugfix release.
The release process has been improved. Instead of announcing a release date and trying to meet it, a Release Candidate 1 (RC1) will now be posted. After it has been tested an bugfixed with the help of the community, a second candidate (RC2) will be released. This is repeated until an RC version with no apparent bugs becomes the final release. The new process removes a ton of pressure from developers and users and gives more time for testing. As our primary consumer-facing product, Decrediton, is growing in features and complexity, more testing will be required for new releases.
Politeia is "Getting close to a public beta of voting" (slack). Decred plugin merged, paywall and voting are in the testing stage. Ticket voting works on testnet via CLI.
Trezor support got closer as Decred patch was merged. Please note this is only firmware support, to be usable it also needs wallet integration.
WooCommerce Decred plugin alpha version is ready for testing.
Decred.org received a new sleek exchanges page.
The contributors page has been updated to add 10 new faces. Some of them are new to the project but others have been contributing for a while.
Dev activity stats for April: 152 active PRs, 125 commits, 21,656 added and 10,288 deleted lines spread across 7 repositories done by 2-7 developers per repository. (chart)

Network

Hashrate: April started at 2.0-2.7 PH/s range and seen a general increase with some big fluctuations between lows at 2.2 and new all time high above 5.2 PH/s.
Nodes: there are 200 public listening and 500 normal nodes per dcred.eu as of May 1. 169 nodes already upgraded to version 1.2.0. Some 30 nodes were observed to be testing Release Candidate versions before the final release.
Ticket price 30-day average has seen a steady rise to 87.5 DCR. Stake participation is solid 46.1% with 3.53 million DCR as of May 1.

ASICs

Updates from Obelisk's Taek:
We got results back. They are more or less on line with the simulations I didn't realize this, but we don't get the real chips back for 3 more weeks. The ones we've been testing are hacked together into a DIP package (they are BGA chips) that really screws up the results There's a decent chance that the full bga chips perform better For the time being though, we're pretty much on track for the hashrates estimated on the website (slack, Apr 12)
And regarding the June delivery date:
We're still on track for batch 1. We've ordered most of the parts we'll need, including the chips. We've got working chips, we've got test boards, test units, test everything. We've signed manufacturers to produce everything. Obelisk is going strong. (reddit, Apr 23)
We are thankful for his updates in our #pow-mining channel and hope other ASIC manufacturers will also join.
Fellow Sia miners are discussing the design of Obelisk SC1 case.
Halong: B29 units are shipping. The amount of units in first batch was estimated 450-600 by our community member. Review of DragonMint B29 published, people are discussing shipping and running the miners.
By surprise, Innosilicon announced the sale of D9 DecredMaster ASIC miner with specs identical to Halong B29 while being much cheaper ($6800 Inno vs $10499 Halong). Expected shipping date of the first batch is April 28-30. The company is active on their bitcointalk thread, also see our reddit.
Just 9 days later Innosilicon announced second batch with delivery on May 7-11 and same price of $6800. (reddit)

Integrations

Decred's Brazilian community made good progress with integrations this month.
emiliomann: On April 2nd @Rhama will launch the first BR exchange of altcoins with fiat market and totally within the laws of the Brazilian government. Decred will have the two markets DCBTC and DCBRL. It’s very difficult to fulfill all the legal requirements and get authorization to work with FIAT here.
The exchange turned out to be Profitfy. Profity is innovating by using dcrtime for their blockchain ID login via Original My. Great to see this deeper engagement with the tools that Decred provides, and not a surprise that it comes from @Rhama, who has been a community member since day one.
This seems to have spurred another exchange, Braziliex, to bring forward their launch of DCBRL and DCBTC pairs, coming just 2 hours after Profitfy launched.
Not stopping there,
emiliomann: Hey guys, this is a poll of the biggest Bitcoin exchange in Brazil that is planning to open altcoins markets. Please, help the Brazilian community by voting for Decred! Just one click. Thank you! https://twitter.com/mercadobitcoin/status/981602483268194307
Finally,
viniciusfrias: We're excited to announce PagueCripto.com, a Brazilian crypto-to-fiat payment gateway which accepts Decred among other cryptocurrencies for Brazilians to pay daily bills, such as credit cards, energy, rent, etc, and also to make local bank transfers. Our service is both a web platform and an Android app, and as our community is relevant in Brazil, we are offering a discount coupon (50%) in service fees using DCR until May 14, 2018. Check it out at paguecripto.com and in Google Play Store. (slack)
Moving to other countries, good news from Canada:
michae2xl: Decred is now available on @ezBtcCanada, an exchange with DCCAD trading pair. From Toronto – ezbtc.ca
i2Rav announced i2trading.com, a new trading desk that will be offering DCEUR pair:
Eventually we hope to offer the pair in GBP and YEN as well
changenow.io, a non-custodian exchange for fast conversions, added DCR.
You can see all exchanges known to support Decred in a spreadsheet maintained by snr01. Many of them are missing from coinmarketcap.

Adoption

The Crypto Lawyers, LLP, a crypto exclusive U.S. law firm began accepting Decred (reddit):
RAurelius: I think that a law firm accepting Decred is a worthy distinction from other previously publicized companies that accept Decred for typical consumer products. Legal services are severely lacking in the Crypto-sphere, so the publicity is good for everyone in this arena.
Great to see business owners reaching us directly in chat.
VotoLegal is migrating from Ethereum to Decred blockchain:
emiliomann: VotoLegal, a Brazilian project that uses blockchain technology to allow election campaign funding to be transparent and that all transactions conducted are tracked and made available to the citizens, now uses dcrtime and Decred blockchain. https://twitter.com/decred_bstatus/986610826051276800 (slack)

Partnerships

YBF Ventures and Decred announced partnership in building a blockchain-focused development and business hub in Australia.
With the YBF Ventures partnership, Decred hopes to grow their Australian contractor network and scale their operations throughout the Asia-Pacific region. (btcmanager.com)
We specifically chose Decred for a more robust corporate partnership, and it is the first time that a decentralised autonomous organisation is partnering with a ‘traditional’ organisation in such a capacity. (ybfventures.com)

Marketing

Dustorf joined on the marketing front and is conducting a brand discovery analysis:
Decred is soliciting the input of our user community. In order to better understand you, what you think of Decred, and where you would like it to focus its efforts, we've come up with a short (4 minute) survey. Your input of all varieties is most appreciated https://www.surveymonkey.com/2LHK3FV
April targeted advertising report released (previous March report here). Reach @timhebel for full version.
The iconic "Not Overly Scammy" t-shirt by cryptograffiti is available for purchase. For those wondering, the meme originates from @fluffypony.
Some hilarious promos by @jackliv3r: one two three.

Community Discussions

Reddit highlights: A debate on Decred protocol security and attack cost, a comparison of expected and actual block production times, a write-up on distribution of powers and how Monero could benefit from a PoS governance layer, two other threads on ASIC resistance, and one discussing different types of decentralization.
Very thoughtful discussion on whether it is appropriate to use half naked photos in marketing, followed by meta-discussion how to handle very polarizing issues and unwanted contributions to the marketing efforts of a decentralized project. (slack, continued)
A new #governance channel was created to discuss governance in Decred and other projects.
politeia subreddit was recovered for Decred community. Thanks to Tivra for filing the request. Politeia can bring a lot of value outside Decred so it well deserves its own sub.
A new Slack invite page has been setup and onboarded 40 people in 48 hours.
Decred StackExchange site proposal was closed due to inactivity in a 7 day period, according to Area 51 rules.

Markets

In April Decred showed a confident recovery after previous months. DCUSD moved from below $40 to nearly $90 and the more liquid DCBTC from 0.0058 to 0.0093.
OOOBTC showed unexpectedly huge DCR trading volume of $19 m on April 10 (reddit), it went back to normal 2 weeks later.
On April 25 a wild rush took the price from 0.00777 to 0.0177 BTC in under 30 minutes on Poloniex, setting a new USD all time high of ~$165 ($141 world average). Prices on other exchanges followed to a lesser degree. Possible causes were discussed on reddit. Talking about all time highs, an indicator tracking difference between ATH and current price shows Decred is competitive at retaining USD value.

Relevant External

Bittrex finally opened registrations again.
ASIC debates are raging after Bitmain stealth-launched ASICs for Sia, Monero and Ethereum. Most opinions reflect on whether and how to resist ASICs, but some are recognizing the Decred way, like this excellent piece.
The importance of governance is gaining recognition as well. One notable example is Mike Hearn's AMA where it was a hot topic.

About This Issue

This project was motivated by the desire to expose just how much is happening in Decred and save the time for people unable to actively follow our channels. It aims to cover all relevant developments with a short description and links to read further. It shows the depth of the project and the involvement of the community. We also plan to launch a newsletter and consider a shorter version if there is such a demand.

"In Cryptography We Trust" - Bitcoin Expo 2014 Coming to Canada . April 11-13 . Metro Toronto Convention Center

www.bitcoinexpo.ca
Greetings global Bitcoin community.
On behalf of the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada, I wish to invite you to one of the largest planned international Bitcoin events to date. Join us on April 11th-13th at Bitcoin Expo 2014 in Toronto. The prevailing theme will revolve around the growth and development of Bitcoin communities worldwide with a focus on collaborative and decentralized models. The Expo will be a showcase of prominent Bitcoin leaders, speakers, and businesses, and will be a stage where Canada can display its world class Bitcoin communities and business startups.
Canada is fast becoming known for its Bitcoin innovation and leadership charge. Recently, the world's first Bitcoin ATM went live within our borders. This was made possible by the legal and regulatory environment we're currently enjoying in Canada which is proving to be more Bitcoin friendly than many other nations around the world. We're excited to show you firsthand the enthusiasm and dedication of the Canadian Bitcoin community.
The Expo will be held at Metro Toronto Convention Center, Canada's largest conference and meeting facility, located next to Toronto's renowned financial district. Toronto is within a five-hour drive of some of the most populated cities in Canada, and is an hour drive from Niagara Falls and the border to the United States.
In addition to Bitcoin community building, other themes will revolve around Bitcoin and charitable giving, benefits Bitcoin can offer to developing nations, and policy and regulatory environments that we see being constructed around the world in response to this disruptive new innovation.
The Bitcoin Expo 2014 will be an event hosted by the Canadian Bitcoin community. However, we want to make this an international Bitcoin event, done in a collaborative way that will benefit Bitcoin communities not just in Canada but also specifically in under-developed areas and in areas where Bitcoin is still in its infancy. We will be offering scholarships that will allow potential speakers who mkight otherwise be limited by financial or political constraints the opportunity to visit Toronto and share valuable perspectives on Bitcoin. Again, this is an event put on by the Bitcoin community... for the Bitcoin community. It will be organized 100% by volunteers, and all proceeds will be returned to the Bitcoin community in a crowdsourced way that's decided by the membership of the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada. This is a non-profit event dedicated to assisting speakers, leaders, and business owners get their messages across. We would like everybody to participate, collaborate, and work together to make this the most meaningful Bitcoin event to date.
Please check back on our site frequently, as over the next few months we will continue to expand our already confirmed fantastic core group of speakers from around the world. We will soon announce the key dates, programs, and committees, and over the next couple months, sponsorship and exhibitor placements will be filled.
Tickets will go on sale in early 2014. Should you have any questions, should you wish to become a speaker or contribute in any way, or if you'd just like to talk Bitcoin, please give me a call at +1 416,831,9593, email me at [email protected], or contact me via Skype; user name a.diiorio.
I'm excited the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada is hosting this event. Please join us. Canada welcomes you!
